Tragic Passing of Parag Desai: Business Leader Attacked by Stray Dogs Outside Home

Parag Desai, a prominent figure in the Wagh Bakri Tea Group, tragically lost his life following a harrowing encounter with stray dogs. On October 15, the 49-year-old businessman found himself under attack by stray dogs outside his residence, while he valiantly tried to fend them off. The incident left Desai with severe injuries.

A security guard stationed outside his home swiftly alerted his family to the unfortunate occurrence. Desperate to provide him with the best care, they rushed him to Shelby Hospital in Ahmedabad. Later, he was transferred to Zydus Hospital for a crucial surgical procedure. Tragically, during the course of his treatment, Parag Desai suffered a brain hemorrhage, which ultimately led to his untimely passing on a Sunday.

Shaktisinh Gohil, Chief of Gujarat Congress and a Rajya Sabha member, extended his condolences in a social media post. He mourned the loss of Parag Desai, who served as the Director and owner of Wagh Bakri Tea, and expressed his sympathies to the Wagh Bakri family nationwide.

In the wake of Desai’s tragic demise, some social media users raised concerns about the issue of stray dogs in the country. One user pointed out the unexpected vulnerability of a wealthy individual like Parag Desai and called upon municipalities across India to address this concern more proactively.

Rajya Sabha member Priyanka Chaturvedi emphasized the avoidable nature of Parag Desai’s death and extended heartfelt condolences to his family. She advocated for the implementation of proactive policies to manage the stray dog menace, including the establishment of stray animal shelters, neutering, vaccinations, and support for NGOs dedicated to this cause.

Parag Desai, a dynamic entrepreneur, was the son of Rasesh Desai, the managing director of the Wagh Bakri Tea Group. He leaves behind his wife, Vidisha, and daughter, Parisha. With over 30 years of experience in entrepreneurship, Parag led the international business, sales, and marketing divisions of the Wagh Bakri Tea Group. He was an active participant in industry platforms such as the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The Wagh Bakri Tea Group’s website highlights Parag Desai’s expertise as a tea taster and evaluator. It also notes that he pursued his Master’s in Business Administration from Long Island University in the United States. Parag Desai’s untimely passing is a loss felt deeply in the business and entrepreneurial community.
