Dharavi United is the first Multilingual Hip-hop Collective based out at Dharavi. It consists of a Talented Hip-hop Crew and other Artists from Dharavi such as DopeaDelicz, 7 Bantaiz, Mc Altaf, etc. Dharavi United has always been upfront and initiated all Hip-hop activities in Dharavi. Dharavi United has also been a part of the integral dignity of Dharavi which is also known has Hip-hop headquarter since it comprises Raw Talent from Dharavi.
Before few weeks, Dharavi was declared as a COVID 19 National Hotspot, but Dharavi never gave up and faced the situations due to this Novel Coronavirus Pandemic and fought this infectious virus and now they are proven to be successful by huge downfall in the number of COVID cases in their area. Dharavi was totally in the red zone, watching the situations of their hood, these artists from Dharavi started making music, writing lyrics, and making a song as well the music videos on the current situations of their surrounding from their home itself without breaching the Stay Home Policy.
Their songs were not just a song but also a strong message to the world. Dharavi United took a step forward to raise this awareness campaign through their songs and lyrics. Dharavi United with Gully Gang came up with a song named “Stay Home Stay Safe” in May -2020. This song was more than just a message to the people of the country. It was an idea, a clarion call to unify people of the country for a common cause i.e to fight against this pandemic.
This song was supported by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation which featured celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Suniel Shetty, Dia Mirza, Rana Daggubati, etc. Dharavi United has always been concerned about their hood and their problems and takes instant actions and initiates the movement through their songs which leaves an impact on the surrounding.
This time, Dharavi United joined their hands with Action Aid & Dropout Media for this COVID Anthem called ” Hum Jeetenge” has been officially released on 6th September 2020 on their Youtube Channel. This song is full of positive vibes and the situations of Dharavi which is inspiring a lot. Finally, Dharavi fought & overcame this pandemic and now is in a balanced state. The song is totally based on the real-time situations of their surrounding.
Watching the condition of Dharavi, Action Aid India Initiated this project and collaborated with the young talent of Dharavi with the well known HipHop Artists such as:
