Mazen Seif talks about canceling the Confederation Cup and increasing the number of Super League clubs.

Sports journalist Mazen Seif confirmed that the Confederation of African Football (CAF), headed by South African Patrice Motsepe, has officially decided to cancel the Confederation Cup starting next season.

Mazen Seif said during a phone call to the “Sabahko Riyada” program that the decision to cancel the Confederation Cup comes in order to prioritize the CAF Champions League and CAF Super League competitions and provide clubs with sufficient financial support. He pointed out that during the next season, only three club tournaments will be held under the CAF umbrella: the CAF Champions League, the CAF Super League, the new tournament from last season, and the CAF Super Cup.

Mazen Seif continued: “The Confederation of African Football has decided to increase the number of teams participating in the African Super League to 24 for the 2025-2026 season, with the teams being divided into groups of North Africa, Central Africa, West Africa, South Africa, and East Africa.
