Suspect in Kerala Blast Briefly Stayed in Hotel Room Before Surrendering

In a shocking turn of events, Dominic Martin, the primary suspect in the series of explosions during a Jehovah’s Witnesses prayer convention in Kalamassery, was discovered to have checked into a hotel room for just a mere ten minutes before surrendering to the Kodakara police. This revelation has shed new light on the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

Dominic Martin’s brief stay at a hotel in Kodakara, Thrissur district, is believed to be connected to a social media post he allegedly made, claiming responsibility for the horrific explosion that occurred during the crowded convention. According to hotel staff, he arrived at around 10:45 a.m., using his Aadhaar card for identification, and paid ₹1,500 through UPI as hotel charges. Strangely, he left the hotel premises within ten minutes, citing an unspecified accident that required his immediate attention.

CCTV footage from the hotel provides evidence of Dominic Martin’s presence during this short visit, raising further questions about his motives and actions on that fateful day.

The death toll from the explosions at the Jehovah’s Witnesses convention in Kalamassery has now reached three, with over 50 people sustaining injuries. The event, attended by more than 2,500 individuals, turned into a scene of tragedy on the last day of prayer gatherings. The peaceful assembly, which customarily began with a two-minute prayer, was abruptly disrupted by a horrifying explosion, leaving attendees in shock.

Eyewitnesses described a scene of chaos, with smoke and fire engulfing the hall, disrupting the religious gathering’s tranquility. The Jehovah’s Witnesses community, a minority Christian group, has been left devastated by the loss and injuries.

Prominent political figures, including NCP president Sharad Pawar, have vehemently condemned the blasts near Kochi. Sharad Pawar referred to the incident as deplorable and deeply disturbing, offering his sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and extending prayers for the swift recovery of the injured.

Hatred and violence are never the solutions to societal issues, emphasized Pawar, as he expressed strong condemnation of the blasts. Hours after the incident, a man claiming to be a Jehovah’s Witnesses member surrendered to the police in Thrissur district, asserting responsibility for the multiple explosions and alleging that the group’s ideology posed a danger to the country.

As investigations continue, the shocking events surrounding the Jehovah’s Witnesses convention in Kalamassery have left Kerala and the nation as a whole grappling with the tragedy and seeking answers to the motives behind this heinous act.
