Newcastle United Threatens Legal Action Against AC Milan Over Sandro Tonali’s Suspension

In a shocking turn of events, Newcastle United has reportedly threatened AC Milan with a multi-million-pound lawsuit as their star midfielder, Sandro Tonali, faces a 10-month suspension for illegal betting. This suspension is expected to keep Tonali out of the game for the remainder of the season, and the news comes just months after the Magpies signed him from AC Milan for a substantial £52 million.

The alleged ban is not officially in effect until after Newcastle’s Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund at St James’ Park, allowing Tonali to be available for Eddie Howe’s squad in the upcoming match. The suspension takes effect the following day.

Corriere dello Sport reports that Newcastle is seriously contemplating legal action against AC Milan, expressing their frustration with the Italian giants for selling a player who is now expected to be unavailable for most of the season.

It’s essential to note that Newcastle is not only concerned about Tonali’s suspension but also intends to suspend the payment of Tonali’s substantial €8 million net per season salary. This stance is in contrast to Juventus, which continued to pay Nicolo Fagioli’s salary in full after his ban, allowing him to keep training with the first team.

The Sandro Tonali saga continues to unfold, adding a layer of complexity to the situation. As the legal battle looms, it remains to be seen how this controversy will affect the young midfielder’s career and the relationship between the two clubs.
