Taylor Swift doesn’t write her own songs; Damon Albarn’s claim is ‘Completely false’

These days, Taylor Swift is having a rift with a musician Damon.

The “folklore” artist took to Twitter on Monday to vent anger at Damon Albarn, after the Blur frontman claimed in an interview with the Los Angeles Times that Swift “doesn’t write her own songs.”

When Mikel Wood of the LA Times also told Albarn that “of course” Swift wrote or co-wrote her own songs, Albarn, 53, said the co-writing didn’t count. Swift, 32, has co-written with Aaron Dessner, Jack Antonoff and other artists throughout her career.

In an article published on Sunday, Albarn explained “I know what co-writing is. Co-writing is very different from writing,” he said. “I don’t hate anyone, I’m just saying That’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes.”

He continued: “That doesn’t mean the result can’t really be great. Ella Fitzgerald has never written a song in her life. When I sing, I have to close my eyes and wants to just be there. I guess I’m a traditionalist in that sense.”

Albarn then compared Swift to Billie Eilish, whom he called a “really interesting songwriter”. Eilish often co-writes with his brother, record producer Finnace O’Connell.

“I’m more attracted to hem than Taylor Swift,” Alburn said of Eilish’s music. “It’s darker – more upbeat. I think he’s extraordinary.”

Taylor Swift hit back on Twitter the next day, writing that I was a “huge fan” of Albarn until he tried to “discredit” my writing.

“I write all my songs myself,” claimed Taylor. “Your allegation is completely false and very harmful.”

Swift added in another tweet: “For your information, let me tell you that I also wrote this tweet myself.”

Albert apologized to Swift later on Monday, tweeting an extensive Q&A, but his apology was too diabolical to say “I apologize unconditionally.” “The last thing I want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand.”

Following Albarn’s unique comment, Taylor fans supported Taylor, telling Albarn that Swift wrote her third studio album, “Speak Now”, entirely to silence those who doubted her songwriting abilities.

Antoff, who collaborated with Swift on her 2020 albums “Folklore” and “Evermore”, also came to Taylor’s defense.

He tweeted, “I’ve never met Damon Albarn and he’s never been to my studio, but apparently he knows more than the rest of us about all the songs that Taylor writes and brings out.”
